The Abandoning

 

The Abandoning is a short film by Vanessa Gildea. The film creates the memory of a house where the past and present are not separate places. Vanessa uses experimental images influenced by the art of pinhole photography to recall her childhood visits to her Granny’s house in Donegal. Patrick Jordan utilised his award winning camera techniques to great effect. The Abandoned Cottage which is at the heart of the film was constructed by the Production Designer Tara Doyle in a studio in County Laois. It is a haunting yet beautiful film that is connecting strongly with audiences since it premier at the Galway Film Fleadh.
