ICC Digital The feminist ‘Ann Rossiter’ tells how she helped troubled Irish women in London

In advance of her up and coming history lecture “These Wildish Things”, Irish Feminist and Political Activist Ann Rossiter came on the ICC’s monthly radio show “Bright Side Of The Road” to talk to presenter Piers Thompson about her decades of fighting for the rights of Irish women to have legal abortions. In this gripping interview Rossiter shares harrowing stories of Irish women who had to secretly come to London too have abortions. Joining her was a stalwart of the ICC, Mary Swan, who shares her own vivid memories of hundreds of young Irish girls who had to take the boats and the trains to England, to try to avoid the shame of defying the power and condemnation of the Catholic Church in Ireland.
