IRELAND ON SCREEN
A Celebration Of The Films of One of Irelands Leading Documentary Film-Makers, Sé Merry Doyle.
Sé Merry Doyle has directed some of the most successful documentaries films to come out of Ireland. His gems include ‘Alive Alive O – A Requiem To Dublin’, which that charts the demise of Dublin’s street traders and the erosion of it’s inner city communities. The internationally acclaimed ‘John Ford – Dreaming the Quiet Man’ featuring Martin Scorsese, Maureen O’Hara and Gabriel Byrne, it gives a powerful insight into John Ford’s twenty year obsession to make his most personal movie. ‘Patrick Kavanagh, No Man’s Fool’, is a most moving and powerful tribute to Irelands great poet. Sé Merry Doyle established his company Loopline Films in 1982 with the mission to create films that have creative storytelling at their core and that will stand the test of time! In 2017 this proved to be the case, as in recognition of the cultural importance of his films, The Irish Film Archive decided to archive and restore his vast catalogue.
