Talking to my Father by Sé Merry Doyle

A very intimate screening of Sé Merry Doyle’s new feature documentary ‘Talking to my Father’ at the Sara Walker Gallery. Sara is the daughter of Robin Walker who alongside her brother Simon are the two main protagonists of this film set in the world of architecture. It will also be a memorable screening as it is close to the location of one of Robin’s most famous creations ‘Bothar Bui‘ the home he built for his family on the wild Beara Penninsula.

All hands on deck in Loopline Film as we put the finishing touches to Sé Merry Doyle’s feature documentary ‘Talking to My Father’. The subject is the great Irish Architect Robin Walker who was one of the pioneers of Modernism, beginning in the late fifties and bowing out from a glittering career in the late seventies. His son Simon, also an architect takes us on a journey through Robin’s life and celebrates his buildings and his writings. The actor Patrick Bergin reads some extracts from Robin’s writing and our great poet Seamus Heaney reads ‘An Architect’ the poem he wrote in memory of his friend Robin. An original score is composed by Stano and Cinematographer Patrick Jordan‘s wonderful eye adds to this sumptuous palette of creativity. Andrea Pitt and Sasha King Produce and Philippe Faujas looks after tyne Soundscape. The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival will host the World Premier at the Irish Film Institute on the 24th March 2015. The acclaimed Director/Producer Margo Harkin chose Loopline Post to Edit and Grade her new film ‘The Far Side of Revenge’. The film was made under the Arts Council Reel Art scheme and will have its World Premiere at the Dublin Film Festival on the 21st February. The film was edited by Sé Merry Doyle and Nicky Dunne supervised the Graphics – Master Grading and Sound Mix.
The New York International Film Festival screens Sé Merry Doyle’s film, ‘Jimmy Murakami – Non Alien’ on the 23rd November at 1pm in the Quad Cinema New York.
In this award winning feature documentary, the famous animator of ‘Snowman’ and ‘When the Wind Blows’ makes a pilgrimage back to Tule Lake Concentration Camp, where alongside his family, he was interned for four years after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. The film has had several prestige screening worldwide and won the ‘Director’s Choice Award’ at the Sacramento International Film Festival.
