John Henry Foley – Sculptor of the Empire gets a special screening on TG4 31st July 23:15. Here is a wonderful clip showing how Foley created the Daniel O’Connell Monument in Dublin in 1866 but went on to feel the wrath of Republicans went he took on the commission to sculpt Prince Albert in London as a special favor to Queen Victoria.

Launch of Kathleen Lynn at RCPI a great success

We had our premiere of Kathleen Lynn The Rebel Doctor at RCPI on Wednesday night. The Royal College of Physicians was the perfect setting to hold the screening as it is home to all of the Saint Ultan’s archive, a beautiful portrait of Kathleen and of course her diaries. The Rebel Doctor was a huge success with the audience. A fitting tribute to an amazing woman. Click here to read the RCPI blog about the night.

Kathleen Lynn Doc set to screen on Easter Monday

‘Kathleen Lynn – The Rebel Doctor’ will be broadcast on TG4 on the 25th of April at 21.30. Sé Merry Doyle’s documentary is the complex and untold story of a suffragette, a Captain in James Connolly’s Irish Citizen Army, and the founder of Ireland’s first infant hospital St. Ultan’s in 1919.

Actress Ingrid Craigie dramatises notable moments in Dr. Lynn’s life as she recorded them in her diaries. Kathleen Lynn from Mulafarry Co. Mayo devoted her entire life to improving the horrendous social conditions of the poor of Dublin.
